Sharpened by Connection

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”— Proverbs 27:17
We weren’t made to grow alone.
No matter how strong our faith feels, there are days when confidence flickers, and we wonder if what we’re building really matters, o
r if anyone even notices. That’s when God sends people. The kind who remind us who we are, who speak truth when we forget it, who gently help us realign with His purpose.
That’s what iron sharpening iron really means. It’s not about perfection rubbing against perfection — it’s about two lives intersecting, each one made stronger in the process.
At Michiana Women’s Alliance, we believe that’s where true growth begins: in connection. Networking, for us, isn’t about business cards or small talk. It’s about meeting women who stretch us, challenge us, and reflect the kind of faith we want to live out — steady, generous, and real.
When Faith Meets Community
There’s a reason Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 says,
“Two are better than one… if either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
Because sometimes we do fall down. Sometimes we lose perspective. Sometimes we need someone who’s already walked through what we’re facing — whether it’s launching a business, healing from burnout, or learning to listen for God’s next nudge.
Growth happens in those moments of honesty. When one woman says, “I’ve been there,” and another replies, “Tell me how you got through.” That’s the kind of conversation that builds the Kingdom — quietly, powerfully, one shared story at a time.
The Invitation
As you step into your next meeting, event, or gathering — pause and look around. The women beside you aren’t competitors; they’re co-laborers. Each one carries a piece of the story God is writing in this community.
Ask a deeper question. Listen a little longer. Be open to the idea that the woman across the table might be the very iron God intends to use to sharpen you — and that you might be hers.
Because when women grow together in faith and purpose, the whole Kingdom grows with them.
